Google is NOT the Enemy – Why Your Rankings Crashed on Google

Did your rankings drop recently due to either the Google Panda or Penguin updates? At this point, we would bet you are quickly trying to pinpoint the reasons, clean it up and get your rankings back. When your rankings disappear, so do your sales! So it is imperative that you only employ white hat SEO when it comes to your search engine optimization efforts. This is not hard, it is just extensive, tedious and needs to be done regularly. You can learn how to do SEO yourself or have someone at your company try their hand, but keeping up with all the changes and updates really isn’t worth the headache of trying to do SEO yourself or hiring subpar SEO companies to do the work for you.

There Are NO Short Cuts in SEO

Many companies affected by the latest rounds of changes by Google were using an SEO company that had implemented many of the not-so-good techniques called “black hat.” Things like keyword stuffing, sitemap staffing, excessive internal page keyword linking or excessive backlinks. This is why it is so important to follow Google’s guidelines when it comes to search engine optimization. Google is very strict and for good reason, you should be on the top of the search engines only if you have the content people are looking for. No cheating, no short cuts, no magic pill.

You must do white hat SEO only. Just enough search engine optimization to tell the search engines this is what your website is about. In addition, you can’t exclusively rely on SEO. You need to set-up an account with Google Adwords and add SEM to your marketing mix. If you need our SEO help, we can get involved professionally and clean up the mess other search engine optimization companies left behind. If you want to go at it alone, you will need to clean up all of your SEO and file a reconsideration request with Google; then wait.

If you have tried other search engine optimization companies, we invite you to try Portside Marketing. Never again will you have to worry about the next “update” by Google or other search engines.
